Am I a Candidate?

Potential candidates for snap on dentures include:

  • The dissatisfied denture wearer suffering from uncomfortable and wobbly dentures
  • Individuals with partial tooth loss or edentulous (no teeth)

What are Snap on Dentures?

Snap on Dentures are a refreshing change from standard teeth replacement option for people who are edentulous and struggle with their basic functions of chewing and speaking. They do not require adhesives to fit firmly in the mouth. Instead of resting on the gumline, these are attached to implants, which provide a strong anchorage to the dentures. This denture type can be snapped on and off easily.

Snap in or snap on dentures are removable, palateless dentures that clasp or snap on to dental implants. This provies increased stability and comfort along with a well-crafted smile. They can be a pivotal decision for individuals who wear dentures or have experienced tooth loss. They overcome the problem of gagging sensation which some individuals may have with a full palate denture.

Alternatively known as mini implant dentures, they are a modern-day alternative to regular dentures or artificial teeth. They fit over all on 4 and all on 6 dental implants that are strategically placed in your mouth. Dental implants act as the support for the snap-on dentures. We, at ADC offer both upper and lower jaw snap on dentures.

Dental Implants

According to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), dental implants preserve and stimulate natural bone and prevent bone loss. They are a great alternative for edentulous jaws and provide enormous stability. You can choose from the following types:

All on 4 Dental Implants

They provide rehabilitation of the entire dental arch with four dental implants which are surgically placed in the jawbone

All on 6 Dental Implants

The surgical implantation of the dental implants in the jawbone and complete rehabilitation of the dental arch with six implants

All on 8 Dental Implants

Complete rehabilitation of the dental arch is achieved with eight dental implants.

Dental Bridges

Rehabilitation with dental bridge is achieved by attaching false teeth to metal or plastic connectors and connecting to adjacent teeth. Bridges require a few healthy natural teeth to act as anchors.

Snap On Denture Alternatives

Snap In Denture Benefits

In addition to renewed self-confidence and improved lifestyle, snap-on dentures can result in a host of oral health benefits including:

Improvement in Facial Aesthetics and Reduces Aging

According to Lupi SM and colleagues, the implant-retained dentures improve facial aesthetics and reduce the visible signs of aging – wrinkles1.

Stability for Lower/Upper Arch

Among the many benefits of snap on dentures, they provide stability to both the dental arches and eliminate the floating effect as experienced by traditional denture wearers. The dental arch is secured when there is movement in the mouth while eating, laughing or chewing1.

Freedom to Eat All Kinds of Food

According to Lupi SM and colleagues, the implant-retained denture rehabilitation provide restoration of masticatory functions1.

Snap on dentures give you the much required freedom to eat your favorite food which you have previously avoided. Snap on dentures can be taken off as many times as required without any hassle.  Thus, food debris which sticks to your lower snap in dentures can be easily cleaned.

Improved Sense of Taste

Unlike traditional dentures, snap on dentures are palateless and one can experience an improved sense of taste 1.

No Adhesives Needed

Snap on dentures are secured with dental implants and do not move or shift around in the mouth, thus providing a great comfort. This eliminates the need for denture adhesives to keep them firmly in place.

Snap In Denture Benefits

Is there any discomfort after getting snap on dentures?

You may experience minor discomfort for a day or two but you’ll gradually get used to your new Overdentures.

I have dental anxiety, is there a solution?

In case a person has dental anxiety or fear of dental procedures we do offer sedation dentistry (Nitrous Oxide/ IV Sedation) as an option at an extra price.

Where do I stay for my treatment?

Hotel Hacienda Los Algodones offers accommodation at a special price of $30 for our patients.

We also have deals with some hotels in Yuma, AZ.

How long does implant procedure take?

After securing your jawbone with titanium tooth roots, osseointegration process takes 3-6 months. In the second phase of the surgery, the gums are exposed for fitting the healing caps and are given 12-14 days to heal.

Abutments are attached after 14 days and teeth impressions are taken to make a model of your jaws.

Will the food get caught in my snap on dentures, like traditional dentures?

Overdentures are much more stable than traditional dentures and thus, the denture movement is minimized during eating or chewing. This also leads to less food getting trapped inside the overdentures.

To minimize the problem of food getting trapped, remember, the fabrication of the overdenture should be high-quality and it should fit well on the implants.

This only lessens the problem and does not ensure total elimination of food getting trapped underneath.

Taking Care of Snap on Dentures

Taking care of your snap on dentures is much the same as caring for traditional dentures. It includes:

  • Removing and rinsing the snap-on dentures after eating so that the food debris is removed from on or under the denture.
  • After taking out your dentures, clean your mouth with water and then place the denture back.
  • To prevent scratches and damage, brush your snap on denture with soft brush and non-abrasive denture cleaner.
  • Visit your dentist regularly to ensure teeth remain healthy.
